Here we are, the end of another year! To be completely honest, I don’t have much I want to say. There definitely are things to say; I have thoughts; I’ve had adventures; I’ve learned lessons, but I don’t feel like putting them all down here.
I debated even doing another end-of-the-year post. It kind of felt like an obligation to do one to carry on the tradition I’ve started. And I’ve been thinking, I mean eventually, the tradition must stop right? At what point am I going to end it? Or am I really going to do this year after year after year?
Maybe it’s the fact that it’s the holidays. Or that I’m on vacation right now as I begin to type out my thoughts. So many times, the past couple of months, I thought I need to sit down and get going, typing out my end-of-the-year list of media (I already had determined that’s what I was going to do for 2021). But I just kept delaying it and here we are and I’m still debating posting it. I’ve thought, just don’t do it. End the tradition.
For Christmas this year, for the first time ever, my family didn’t put out milk and cookies for Santa. And we just had gifts from Mom and Dad, no Santa. Those are both just traditions involving Santa Clause lol, but they were traditions my family let go of. So maybe I’m in the spirit of letting go of traditions. Letting go of things feeling like they need to be done. No longer feeling obligated to do things if I don’t feel like it. Or simply even just growing up.
But alas…. here I am not ready to come to the end of 2021 and not put up a post. More so because I spent all year writing down my list of media in my journal, which I really enjoyed doing last year so I started it again for 2021, and spent all year compiling the list so I don’t want to let it go to waste:)
Also, to be honest, typing out this list was still kinda fun because it allowed me to look back at everything I did enjoy consuming this year and reminisce a bit. Some I had forgotten! Some I can’t believe I enjoyed in 2021! Could’ve sworn that one movie was watched last year but damn this year has been LOOONNGG!
